A NOTE TO PARENTS:
Over the Holiday break, the entrance for Clara Bolen Elementary was remodeled. This project gives us the ability to monitor all visitors during the school day. The remodeling project included moving double doors to either side of the office. Before school and after school, parents, students, and visitors are welcome to move throughout the building as they always have. This is valuable as many parents walk their child to the classroom each morning or use this time to communicate in person with teachers. After school starts until 3:00 pm, the doors allowing direct access to the halls will be locked. Since the front main doors are the only doors providing access to the building during the day, this will require all visitors to enter the office before being able to access the halls or classrooms. As building principal, I am very excited about these improvements. Most importantly this will increase building security and student safety. In addition to improving student safety, it will also decrease interruptions to instruction. If you have any questions or concerns about this project, student safety, or building accessibility, please contact me directly and I will help you in any way that I can.

Just a reminder:
If there will be a change to your child’s regular after school plan, bussing or parent pickup, please write a note BEFORE he/she leaves for school in the morning to give to your child’s teacher. This helps prevent transportation issues and children’s anxiety. Your child’s teacher provides time in the morning to accommodate transportation changes.
To better assure your child arrives safely at the correct place, bus pass requests must be in writing unless there is an emergency that develops during the school day. Emergency changes in your child’s after school arrangement MUST be made prior to 1:30 p.m.
