Tawas Area Schools hosted Irene Miller, Holocaust Survivor and Speaker for an two assemblies last week so our students could hear her lessons of resiliency and survival. Irene is a public speaker who is devoted to empowering young people to overcome obstacles and promote tolerance and anti-bullying. She uses her story of perseverance and triumph over circumstance as a positive inspiration and example of empowerment for youth today, as well as a reminder of what the threat of unabated acts of biased attitudes and discrimination can do to a democracy.
